An overweight combination of business owner (Strident Group), property magnate (Neutral Territory) and frustrated academic (Business Critical), I was involved in the original Suffolk Low Carbon Champion programme both as company sponsor and guest researcher with Essex University.
Strident remains a Gold Carbon Charter holder so I am delighted to ‘spread the word’ and Low Carbon Champions CIC is one of my ways of doing it. LCC is essentially an action research project which introduces Suffolk SMEs to a heady cocktail of best practice and latest theory enthusiastically stirred and served by bright young interns.
I graduated with a BSc Geography degree from the University of Nottingham in 2014. I’m currently working full-time on this CIC, building on the excellent work of my intern predecessors to manage this website and make it as useful, fun and easy to use as possible.
I’m confident that with a great website filled with content and advice from Suffolk Low Carbon Champions we can seriously pursue the goal of becoming the greenest county in England.
My interests include of course sustainable and efficient living as well as cricket, rugby, fly fishing and live music/comedy.
I am keen to assist in the development of the Low Carbon Champions CIC this summer after having just returned to the UK after a year in New Zealand as an exchange student as part of my course studying Environmental Science at the University of East Anglia.
Throughout my studies I have learned that the issue of Climate Change and particularly that of reducing carbon emissions is a complex problem with no one answer that involves action on all levels from individual, community and government.
There are always different options that we can take depending on our interests and the most appropriate actions can be discovered with good research and with knowledge, access to technologies or financial incentives can help towards a desired goal.
I hope my ideas and enthusiasm will benefit this project and the community it involves. Let’s make a difference together.
I’m Josh; I have just finished my second year at the University of East Anglia where I study Environmental Geography and Climate Change.
My passions are acting and the pursuit of a more sustainable and stable world for the future. Most recently I have been selling solar panels on the phone and helping the Green party maintain the Wensum Ward in the local elections. I hope to continue working with the green party to make a little corner of Norwich that much nicer to live in. I hope to one day to start a Carbon Neutral business of my own
